Slippage or inconsistent thumb indexing directly impacts how effectively you can drive the muzzle and manage recoil impulses.

The Magpul M-LOK® Thumb Shelf (MAG1566) delivers a low-profile indexing solution that takes up just a single M-LOK slot. Positioned along the upper bevel of an octagonal handguard, it provides an ergonomic ledge for the support-hand thumb. This indexing point enables the shooter to apply downward leverage against muzzle rise, improving follow-up shot speed and consistency.

Key Features

Consistent Thumb Indexing: Establishes a repeatable tactile reference point for the support hand to ensure uniform grip placement

Ribbed, Curved Contact Surface: The contoured top surface features textured ridging for increased thumb traction during movement and recoil control

Ambidextrous Mounting: Mounts on either side of the handguard to accommodate right or left-handed shooting styles

Compact Footprint: Uses minimal rail space, occupying only one M-LOK slot, leaving ample room for weapon lights, switches, and sling mounts

Barrier Support: Designed to assist with hand placement when bracing the rifle against barricades or artificial cover

Technical Highlights

Material: Proprietary Magpul reinforced polymer

Overall Length: 1.55 in.

Weight: 0.4 oz.
